01

Who we are

This website, panelout.com, is operated by PanelOut Solar LLP (“PanelOut”, “we”, “us” or “our”). We design, supply and install balcony and rooftop solar systems, and offer certified solar products, for homes and businesses across India.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit our website, request a callback, book a site visit, use your PanelOut account, or apply to become a partner — and how we use, share and protect it. It is written to meet our obligations under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

By using our website or services, you agree to the practices described here. Please read it together with our Terms & Conditions.

02

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Enquiries and callbacks — your name, mobile number, city, property type, and whether you have a balcony available.
  • Your account — your name, email address and mobile number. Your password is stored only in encrypted (hashed) form. If you turn on two-factor authentication, we store the settings needed for it.
  • Your home and energy profile — your address and saved addresses (street, city, state, pincode), whether you own or rent, your property type, your monthly electricity bill and cost per unit, and the system you are interested in (such as balcony or rooftop, roof type and system size).
  • Site visits, quotations and orders — your preferred visit dates and time slots, the visit address, your quotations, order and delivery status, and payment references for payments made to us.
  • Partner applications — your name, contact details, city, state and pincode, company and business details, experience, team size, coverage area, certifications, investment readiness, and anything else you choose to tell us.
  • Subsidy assistance — if you ask us to handle your PM Surya Ghar subsidy or net-metering application, we may ask for the details and documents that the government portal or your electricity distribution company (DISCOM) requires. We use these only for that application.
  • Communications — messages, emails, calls and WhatsApp chats you exchange with our team.

Information collected automatically

  • When you submit a form, we record your IP address, browser and device type, and the page that referred you, to prevent spam and abuse.
  • Sign-in and session information, and the cookies described in the Cookies section.
  • Usage and analytics data collected through Google Tag Manager, such as pages visited and how you arrived on our site.

Information from third parties

  • Cashfree Payments tells us whether a payment succeeded, along with the order ID and amount.
  • FoxESS — only if you choose to connect your FoxESS Cloud account to your PanelOut dashboard — shares your inverter and plant details (such as device serial numbers, plant name and capacity) and performance data (such as solar generation, power flow, battery status and daily or monthly yield).

We do not ask for your Aadhaar number, PAN, bank account details or card details on this website.

03

How we use your information

We use your personal data to:

  • respond to your enquiries and call you back;
  • create and manage your PanelOut account, including sending you your sign-in details;
  • prepare quotations and estimates of your savings, generation and return on investment;
  • schedule and carry out site visits, deliveries, installation and commissioning;
  • process the site-visit fee and record payments;
  • prepare and file subsidy and net-metering paperwork when you ask us to;
  • show your system’s performance in your dashboard and provide after-sales and warranty support;
  • review and respond to partner applications;
  • send you service messages such as confirmations, quotations and visit updates;
  • tell you about solar products and offers that may interest you — you can opt out at any time;
  • understand how our website is used so we can improve it; and
  • keep our services secure, prevent fraud, and meet our legal and tax obligations.
05

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the people and organisations that need it to serve you:

  • Our team and installation partners — the PanelOut staff, engineers and authorised installers assigned to your visit or installation receive the details they need, such as your name, phone number and address. Your dashboard shows you who has been assigned to you.
  • Service providers who work on our behalf: Cashfree Payments (payment processing), Resend (email delivery), Google (Tag Manager and analytics), our hosting provider, and font services (Bunny Fonts and Fontshare) that receive your IP address when our pages load.
  • FoxESS, only if you connect your FoxESS account, to fetch your system’s data.
  • Government portals and DISCOMs — when you ask us to file subsidy or net-metering applications for you.
  • Finance partners — only if you ask us to arrange an EMI or loan.
  • Authorities — when required by law, a court order or a government request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of PanelOut, our customers or others.
  • A successor business — if PanelOut is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

Each service provider may use your data only to provide their service to us, and is required to keep it secure.

06

Payments

Online payments, such as the site-visit fee, are processed by Cashfree Payments. You enter your card, UPI or net-banking details on Cashfree’s secure checkout, not on our website. We share your name, email address, mobile number and the order amount with Cashfree to create the payment, and we receive the payment status in return. We never see or store your card numbers, CVV, UPI PIN or banking passwords.

If you pay for your system by UPI, bank transfer or another offline method, we record the payment reference so we can match it to your order. Cashfree’s handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy.

08

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy:

  • Account and system data — for as long as your account is active, and for the warranty and support period of your installation.
  • Quotations, orders and payment records — for as long as tax, accounting and other laws require.
  • Enquiries and partner applications — for a reasonable period so we can follow up, or until you ask us to delete them.
  • FoxESS data — until you disconnect FoxESS from your dashboard, which removes the connection and its device data.

When we no longer need your data, we delete or anonymise it.

09

How we protect it

We use reasonable security practices to protect your data, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, hashed passwords, encrypted storage of connected-account tokens, role-based access so staff only see what their job requires, and optional two-factor authentication for your account.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the authorities as required by law. Please keep your password private and change the temporary password we send you after your first sign-in.

10

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
  • Correct and update inaccurate or incomplete data — you can edit your name and email yourself under Settings → Profile;
  • Erase your data when it is no longer needed, unless we must keep it by law;
  • Withdraw consent at any time;
  • Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied; and
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity.

You can delete your account from Settings → Profile. This closes your account straight away. To have your remaining data permanently erased, email us at contact@panelout.com and we will do so, except for records we are legally required to keep.

To exercise any right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within 30 days.

Our website links to other services, such as product listings on Amazon, WhatsApp chat, and our Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook pages. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.
